Elevate Your Quality of Life
Therapeutic Massage for Pain Management, Body Awareness, and Peak Physical Performance
Hello, my name is Josh Kelley!
My passion for massage therapy grew out of a desire to become more aware of my body. For years I ignored the warning signs my body was sending me, by telling myself that chronic aches and pains I was feeling were the result of age and there was nothing that could be done.
I used substances like alcohol or OTC pain relievers to dull the sensations and create temporary relief but the pain always returned. The result was increasing stiffness in certain areas of my body and constant soreness.
The reality of the situation was that I had been unconsciously holding onto chronic muscle tension. I was putting additional strain on my body through physical activities like power lifting and power yoga without proper self-care to aid in recovery.
Once I began to work with a great massage therapist, it was like a reset button. I noticed that my lower back no longer woke me up at night, and my middle upper back didn't feel like it was in a vice.
I thought I had fixed the underlying issue, but many of the aches and pains returned.
Much of what we do is based on unconscious habits, both good and bad. In the morning I automatically roll out of bed, brush my teeth then make coffee. In the shower I shampoo my hair first then wash my body. We repeat patterns of tension the same way.
For example, I used to tense up my jaw when walking in large crowds or in heavy traffic because it was how I unconsciously dealt with stress. This resulted in a chronically sore jaw and frequent tension headaches.
Becoming aware of a habit is the first step toward making positive change. With regular massage, my therapist helped me become more aware of my habits so I was able to change them. This resulted in a noticeable reduction of jaw tension and headaches.
My style of massage is therapeutic in nature. I use techniques such as deep tissue, trigger point therapy, and myofascial release to balance what will most help release aches & pains while also working within the client's comfort level. The result is often a blissed out experience with much less muscular tension, and general relaxation that stays with you!
My massage treatments help clients become more aware of their bodies and increase overall quality of life. I simply want to help others by sharing the knowledge & techniques that changed my life.
